Pregnancy lasts for forty weeks and is counted from the first day of the last menstrual period. It is divided into three parts and is referred to as trimesters. The first stage lasts from first week to the thirteenth week, the second stage lasts from the fourteenth to twenty seventh week and the final stage lasts from twenty eight to forty weeks or up till birth.
The first stage is quite important for the baby. During this period one might find that the most rapid growth takes place during this period. By the end of the first trimester, the child grows to 3.4 inches and weighs around 1.5 ounces. Vital development of a child’s organs takes place from vital organs to limbs.
It can be a challenge to develop and keep track of the pregnancy. The development is counted from first day of woman’s last normal period, although the development of the fetus does not start until conception. It is calculated from this day as each time a woman has her periods, her body starts preparing for pregnancy.
