First Sign of Pregnancy



A number of symptoms are noticed as sing of pregnancy. These symptoms are due to the body adjustment to enormous hormonal changes. Though, it is difficult to say which one is the first sign of pregnancy. But missing the menstrual cycle is the first sign for most of the women.

If you have a regular menstrual cycle, you may notice you miss a period about two weeks after you conceived. This is typically one of the first signs of pregnancy. Changes within your body occur because of pregnancy hormones, which are released into your bloodstream, and which affect various parts of your body. Except missed period, some other symptoms of early pregnancy are:

  • Morning sickness
  • Breast changes
  • Fatigue
  • Frequent urination
  • Mood changes
  • Food cravings
  • Morning sickness

Morning sickness is another sign of early pregnancy; most of the pregnant women experience some degree of morning sickness, especially in the first few months. The symptoms include nausea and vomiting. For most women, morning sickness begins around the fourth week of pregnancy and resolves by the 12th week.

Breast changes

Breast change is one another early pregnancy change. During this time breasts get swollen and tender. Sometimes the veins across both the breasts become more prominent. Some spots also noticed around nipples during the pregnancy.


In early stages of pregnancy women feel fatigue. They feel overwhelming tiredness. This is thought to be caused by the massive increase in the sex hormone progesterone. In most cases, energy levels rise by about the fourth month of pregnancy when the placenta is working properly.

Frequent Urination

Most women start experiencing more frequent urination within the first few weeks of conception. Pregnancy prompts increased levels of body fluids and greater kidney efficiency. The swelling uterus also presses against the bladder.

Mood changes

the type of mood women feel during the days leading up to menstruation, the same time some of feeling women feel in the early days of menstruation — that is irritability or weepiness. Some other women experience feelings of elation in the day of early pregnancy. This type of mood change happens due to pregnancy hormones that influence the brain chemicals and cause the mood changes.

Food cravings

About eight pregnant of women experience cravings for at least one particular food. Between 50 and 80 per cent also experience aversions to particular foods they previously enjoyed. According to some theories, a craving indicates a deficiency in the diet. Most nutritionists recommend that cravings be accommodated, as long as they don’t dominate and replace more important foods.
